Halo Infinite will be released in the fall of 2021, developer 343 Industries has announced. Initially, the game was supposed to be released at the same time as Xbox Series X and S, but after criticism of the first gameplay footage in July, Microsoft decided to postpone it.

Next year, the Insider test version of Halo Infinite will be released and the release should follow in the fall of 2021. 343 Industries reports this in a statement, in which it also shows new in-engine images of the game. It was already clear that the game would not be released this year, as originally intended, but the developer is now making it clear that the game will not be released until the end of 2021.

The makers received a lot of criticism last summer about the state of the game, as it was shown in July. The studio acknowledges that the footage “fell short of Halo’s standard, even for a work-in-progress.” The developer also reports that it planned to improve the display of indirect lighting, material, shrubs and trees, but that the criticism forced us to look at more ways for improvement.

Halo Infinite was supposed to be a major launch title for the Xbox Series X and S, but Microsoft delayed the game until 2021 after criticizing the graphics. Among other things, the criticism was that the characters looked ‘flat, plastic-like and simplistic’. In October, it became clear that Chris Lee, the director of Halo Infinite, was no longer working on the game.
