Download Firmware Philips DVDR1640K P3.6
Philips released a new firmware for its DVDR1620, DVDR1625, DVDR1640 and DVDR1645 DVD burners a few days ago. It is version P3.6 and can be installed over all existing firmware revisions. The download is just over 1MB and can be found here. The download contains an updater that can be run under Windows and three PDF files. The first contains the release notes and a list of all supported media, the second contains update instructions. The third contains hints and tips in case you run into problems. Below are the changes since the last entry in the junk tracker:
Changes from firmware P3.5 to P3.6
- Improved recognition of System Restore CD discs.
Changes from firmware P3.4 to P3.5
- Fixed the possible hang/crash on some motherboards with an nVidia nForce Chipset in combination with Windows XP Service Pack 2.
This upgrade will also allow to upgrade the test version T3.4 for the nVidia Chipset problem to be upgraded to P3.5. In this case, you will be warned “The version of the firmware you are attempting to flash is older than the drive’s current version of firmware. Do you really want to proceed.” Please ignore this warning by clicking on “OK”. - Improved writing quality on DVD+R and DVD-R discs.
- Improved Optimum Power calibration on DVD+R Double Layer discs.
- Included protection to prevent writing on non-supported media.
