Rumor: Nvidia comes with GTX 11xx series in addition to RTX video cards
Nvidia will release a GeForce GTX 1160 in mid-January, and other upcoming mid-range and entry-level cards will also appear in the GTX 11xx series. At least that is what the Videocardz website claims based on a source.
According to the site, Nvidia will split its current offer into an RTX and a GTX part. The RTX cards will continue to be released in the 20xx series and new GTX models will be given an 11xx naming convention. Videocardz refers to the Chinese site Expreview that would partially confirm its rumor in a shielded message, albeit that that site would speak of the arrival of a GTX 1160 Ti, while Videocardz keeps it on a GTX 1160.
A GeForce RTX 2050 will not come, the claim goes on. Rumors have been circulating for weeks about the arrival of an RTX 2060, this card would get the TU106-200 GPU and in the second week of January to appear. The GTX 11 models also get Turing GPUs, but different video chips, without the specific hardware for ray tracing. For example, the GTX 1160 would get a TU116 GPU. Further details, such as prices, are not yet known.
