Minisforum announces Venus mini PC with Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU for 719 euros
Minisforum has announced the Venus Series UM790 Pro, the company’s first mini PC with a Zen 4-generation CPU from AMD. The barebone system will in any case be equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS and will be delivered from June for a suggested retail price of 719 euros.
The UM790 Pro is the latest model in the Venus mini PC series and comes standard with the listed mobile CPU with eight cores and sixteen threads. Minisforum promises a maximum clock speed of 5.2 GHz. There is also a Radeon 780M GPU in the barebone variant. This integrated graphics processor was released early this year and is based on AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. It is equipped with twelve compute units for a total of 768 stream processors. No clock frequency of the GPU is mentioned, although in other recent PCs it is somewhere between 2.8 and 3GHz.
In addition to the barebone variant, there are also versions available with 16, 32 and 64GB DDR5 memory, and 512GB or 1TB of storage space divided over two M.2 2280-PCIe 4.0 SSDs. The most expensive variant has a suggested retail price of 1109 euros.
Furthermore, the Venus Series UM790 Pro has two HDMI 2.1 and two USB4 ports for video output. There are also two HDMI ports, a 3.5mm jack and four USB 3.2 ports in the housing of 130x126x52.3mm. In addition to an Ethernet connection, the Intel Killer AX1675 network chip supports Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E standards.
