Investment firm KKR wants to acquire CoolIT for $270 million

Investment company KKR wants to acquire water cooler manufacturer CoolIT for $ 270 million, the companies announced. CoolIT products are used in some Corsair water coolers, among other things.

KKR’s investment should help CoolIT scale up and serve more customers in the data center market the companies report in a press release. This includes, for example, the hpc and enterprise market. The company also talks about the desktop computer market. The two companies expect the acquisition to close this quarter.

CoolIT products are used in some research assistant water coolers from manufacturers such as Corsair. CoolIT also used to make its own research assistant water coolers. Today, the brand is more concerned with serving the professional market. For example, the company produces cooling products for use in servers.

CoolIT has been involved in patent cases with competitor Asetek several times in the past. The companies were at odds in 2013 when Asetek sued CoolIT for patent infringement. The two companies settled that case in 2015. In 2019, Asetek sued CoolIT again. That case was won by CoolIT.
