Corsair releases MP600 Mini SSD for handheld PCs like Steam Deck
Corsair introduces its MP600 Mini SSD. This will be an M.2-2230 format and is therefore suitable for use in thin laptops and handheld PCs, such as the Steam Deck. The company also comes with a full-size MP600 Core XT SSD with qlc-nand.
Corsair is releasing the MP600 Mini and Core XT immediately, the company reports on Tuesday. The Mini variant will have a capacity of 1TB of TLC nand. The SSD will have a PCIe 4.0 interface and, according to the manufacturer, will achieve sequential read and write speeds of 4.8GB/s. The random read and write speeds are 1.1 million and 850,000 iops respectively.
The MP600 Mini will receive an M.2-2230 format and, according to Corsair, is therefore intended for use in handheld PCs, among other things. The company mentions, among other things, the Steam Deck, which has an M.2 slot. However, the Steam Deck has a PCIe 3.0 interface that supports speeds of up to 4GB/s. The upcoming ASUS ROG Ally also has an M.2-2230 slot, it was recently revealed a hands-on from YouTube channel Dave2D.
Corsair also introduces an MP600 Core XT, a lower-positioned SSD that has qlc-nand and an M.2-2280 format. The SSD also has a PCIe 4.0 interface and is available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB variants. According to Corsair, the drive achieves sequential read and write speeds of up to 5GB/s and 4.4GB/s. The write speeds are lower with the 1TB variant, at a maximum of 3.5GB/s. Corsair does not share arbitrary speeds of the MP600 Core XT.
The two SSDs are available immediately, according to Corsair. The MP600 Mini will have a suggested retail price of 125 euros. The Core XT will be available from 70 euros for the 1TB variant. The 2TB model costs 135 euros and the 4TB variant costs 325 euros.
