Warhammer 40,000: Darktide PC release has been pushed back to November 30
Fatshark is set to release the Windows version of its co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on November 30. The game was first released on September 13 for PC and the Xbox Series X|S. The release of the Xbox version has also been delayed; it should be ‘released shortly after the PC version’.
Fatshark says that it needs more time to improve Darktide’s performance and stability. “Postponing a game is arguably one of the most difficult decisions a developer faces, but we hope this shows that we are taking the time and doing everything we can to give you the best version of the game.” writes the developer. Furthermore, Fatshark reports that betas will be available from mid-August, for which interested parties can sign up via the Darktide site.
It is the third time that the release of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been delayed. The game was announced in 2020 and was supposed to be released the following year. In the end, the game’s release was pushed back to spring 2022 due to the consequences of the corona pandemic. In April, the release date was moved to September.
The game takes place in the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000. That’s a distant future where humanity is led by an undead, 48,000-year-old God-Emperor who uses his vast empire only for war. And those wars are plenty: the Imperial armies are constantly fighting aliens, heretics and mutants throughout the universe. The game has been announced for the Xbox Series X|S and Windows.
Fatshark has also previously made games based on the fantasy counterpart of Warhammer 40,000. These are Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Vermintide 2, which appeared in 2015 and 2018 respectively. Darktide’s gameplay is similar to that of the Vermintide games. Players must work as a team through levels that are swarming with enemies. Many of them are weak, but others can deal much more damage or have special powers.
