The Google Now Launcher for Android will stop working at the end of April. 9to5Google has discovered this in the apk file of the latest version. The launcher came out with Google’s Nexus 5 phone in 2013 and has been working on all phones since 2016.

The Google Now Launcher disappeared from the Play Store years ago, but it still worked on phones it was on. So that ends at the end of April, writes 9to5Google. The installer apk file of version 14.14 of the Google app contains the notification about the end of the launcher.

The launcher for Android was released for the Nexus 5 in 2013 and became available for all phones in 2016. Google Now was a system of cards with personalized information on Android. That is now in all kinds of launchers to the left of the primary home screen. Google made the Pixel Launcher for its own Pixel phones, eliminating the Now Launcher’s role. Back in 2017, Google said it was going to stop. 9to5Google says that not updating the Google app will presumably keep the launcher working.
