Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will get an Exynos chip and therefore no Snapdragon soc
Samsung will reportedly equip the Fan Edition version of the Samsung Galaxy S23 with an Exynos 2200-soc, instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor as with the rest of the S23 series. SamMobile reports this based on its own sources.
The Exynos 2200 chip was first used in Samsung’s European S22 phones, but according to Sam Mobile the S23 FE is also equipped with it. The site additionally claims that this applies to all markets. This is remarkable, because the Galaxy phones in most regions were previously equipped with Snapdragon socs, while only European models received an Exynos chip.
With the earlier S23 models, Europe also received the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. Qualcomm announced at the end of last year that Samsung will no longer use Exynos socs in its Galaxy S23 phones, or at all. Why the South Korean manufacturer would now decide to ignore the Snapdragon processor, which is often seen as the better performing soc, is not mentioned.
SamMobile also shares a number of specifications of the Galaxy S23 FE. It would contain a 50MP main camera and 4500mAh battery. The base model is said to come with 128GB of internal storage, although there’s also the option to go for a more expensive 256GB model. According to the site, the device should appear in the fourth quarter of 2023. It would be the first Fan Edition release since 2021, as the S22 FE has been skipped.
