Windows 11 update causes issues with Red Dead Redemption 2

A recent update to Windows 11 21H2 makes the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2 unplayable. Microsoft acknowledges the issue with update KB5023774 and recommends that users update the operating system to Windows 11 22H2.

On March 28, Microsoft introduced an optional update to Windows 11 version 21H2, Windows Update KB5023774. According to Microsoft, this update brought some improvements, but according to some Red Dead Redemption 2 players, it would also make this game unplayable.

Gamers who want to launch the game via the Rockstar Game Launcher, report after installing the Windows update that the game won’t start even though they pressed the Play button.

Microsoft is aware of the issue and recommends affected gamers to update Windows 11 to version 22H2. That would according to the company should fix the problems with Red Dead Redemption 2. The American software company says it is investigating the problems together with Rockstar. It’s not clear when the company will release a fix.
