Founder steps down as CEO of Ring, coo of Discord takes over position
The founder of Ring is stepping down as director of the Amazon industry, he himself announces. His successor is Elizabeth Hamren, who is now top woman at Discord. Jamie Siminoff will continue to work at Amazon.
Siminoff’s new role is called Chief Inventor, so he writes himself. The founder had been planning to resign as CEO for some time, because he already informed his employees in June last year. Siminoff says he is stepping down to focus on inventing new things for Ring customers.
In addition to Ring CEO, Elizabeth Hamren will also become head of Blink, Amazon Key and Amazon Sidewalk. Just like Ring, Blink makes smart home equipment. Amazon Key creates the technology to let delivery drivers drop packages in their own garage, Sidewalk is an Amazon project to connect devices with each other via a proprietary protocol. Ring was founded in 2012 and has been part of Amazon since 2018 after an acquisition.
