Hyundai Ioniq 6 will have a range of 610 kilometers

The look of the Ioniq 6 was already revealed at the end of June and final specifications have also been released today. This shows that the Hyundai Ioniq 6 has a WLTP range of 610 km and is quite efficient with an energy consumption of less than 14 kWh per 100 km.

The Ioniq 6 is on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 and therefore also has the same battery technology. This means that it has an 800V battery, but can also handle 400V installations. Charging with 400 volts is possible without the need for additional upgrades. With a 400V charger, the car uses its own inverter to convert the 400V from the charging station to 800V, so that the battery can be charged with maximum power. With a 350kW charger, the Ioniq 6 can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

As with the other models, similar configurations are possible. The long-range 77.4 kWh battery can be combined with one or two electric motors, for rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The top model is equipped with two electric motors with a combined power of 239 kW (325 hp) and a torque of 605 Nm. This configuration accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. With its standard 53kWh battery, 18-inch wheels and rear-wheel drive, it consumes less than 14kWh per 100km on the WLTP test cycle, making it one of the most energy-efficient cars on the market on paper. The efficiency of the version with the large battery was not disclosed.

The vehicle-to-load functionality (V2L) is also available, allowing the connection of all kinds of electrical devices with a maximum of 3680 watts. There is a socket under the rear seat, but devices can also be connected via the charging port using an adapter supplied.

The dashboard includes a 12-inch touch-sensitive infotainment screen and a 12-inch digital cluster that displays real-time range information based on battery status. Online services can help plan the route, including charging stations along the route. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported, with bluetooth supporting two devices at the same time, one for phone and the other to stream music. The car is equipped with eight speakers and a Bose sound system with subwoofer.

Furthermore, it is equipped with various driver assistance systems with the latest version of Hyundai SmartSense, Hyundai’s driving assistance system. Highway Driving Assist 2 maintains the pre-set distance to the vehicle in front and speed on the highway and can also keep the car centered in the lane when cornering. If desired, the car can change lanes automatically using the turn signal. There is also a system that monitors other traffic and can intervene if necessary, for example when oncoming vehicles at an intersection threaten to collide, from the left or right. The system also performs an evasive maneuver if a collision is imminent with a pedestrian who is partially on the vehicle’s course. Automatic parking in and out is also provided, which is possible even when the driver is not in the vehicle, but standing next to it.

Hyundai also promises that the over-the-air updates (OTA) can now also be used to upgrade certain functionality, for example in the field of autonomous driving. Until now, this was mainly used for map updates and bug fixes, but not for new functionality.

Production of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 will start in the third quarter of this year and the first cars will be delivered at the end of this year or early next year. Sale prices have not yet been announced.
