Synology releases DS223 nas with two SATA bays and Realtek CPU

Synology releases the DS223 nas. That device has support for two SATA drives for up to 36TB of storage and has a quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM on board. The nas costs 290 euros.

The DS223 has two bays for 2.5″ or 3.5″ SATA drives. These are not supplied as standard with the device, but an optional SAT5200 SSD or HAT5300 HDD can be purchased with the nas. The maximum storage capacity is 36TB, depending on the drive configuration. The device runs on a Realtek RTD1619B processor. It has four cores and a clock speed of 1.7 GHz. The nas is also equipped with 2GB DDR4 non-ECC memory, which is not expandable.

The device has a Gigabit Ethernet port and three USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one of which is on the front. According to Synology, the power consumption during use is around 17W. In sleep mode, this would be about 4W. The nas measures 165x108x233mm, weighs 1.28kg and has a fan that produces a maximum of 14.6 dB(A) of noise. The device costs 289.19 euros and is available immediately.
