Fitbit acknowledges malfunction that prevents users from syncing with smartphone app
Fitbit has a malfunction that may prevent syncing between smartwatch and smartphone app. The company says it is working on a solution to the problem and recommends that users try again in a few hours.
Due to the malfunction, users can view no or less data via the smartphone app and cannot sync with their smartwatch. As a result, they can view less information, for example about how they exercised. New users may also be unable to set up their smartwatch due to the outage. Updating also fails.
On Twitter says Fitbit that there is indeed a malfunction. The company does not specify what the problem is, but says it is being worked on. Users are advised to try syncing again ‘in a few hours’, which makes it seem like the problem won’t be solved soon. It is not clear whether all users are affected by the outage. According to Downdetector, the outage appears to be around 3 p.m to have started. Google acquired Fitbit in early 2021.
