Halo Infinite will receive open beta testing for co-op campaign from July 11 to July 22
Beta testing for the Halo Infinite co-op campaign begins on July 11 and runs through July 22. It was previously clear that this test period would take place in July, but 343 Industries has now announced the exact period.
Developer 343 Industries says that the week of July 11 is the target, but several media reports based on official information that the period will start on July 11 exactly and will last until July 22. Those interested must sign up through the Halo Insider Program and own the Halo Infinite campaign or have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription.
To try out this beta, players will need to download a new campaign. Previously saved progress from playing the campaign will not carry over to the beta and vice versa will no longer be available after the beta. During the beta, the full campaign will be available for four players. During the upcoming co-op testing period, the option to replay missions will also be available.
In an accompanying interview, lead world designer John Mulkey explains exactly how co-op works for various participating players. All players make their own individual progression while playing together and are not dependent on the leader’s progression. “I could play a solo campaign, jump into a co-op session for a few hours, and then play solo again and all mission progress, collectibles acquired, equipment found, achievements earned and upgrades made in both sessions would be intact. Gone are the days when you played someone else’s game and you made no progress,” said Mulkey.
343 Industries can’t yet give a firm release date for the game’s co-op campaign. Halo Infinite was released in November last year, but still has to do without this co-op part and, for example, the level editor Forge Mode. These additions have already been postponed several times.
