Facebook earned $15.49 per European user last quarter
Facebook earned much more in the first quarter than in the same period last year. European users averaged $15.49 per user, compared to $10.64 a year ago. The number of Facebook users also continues to grow.
Average revenue per user rose by 45.6 percent in Europe, according to Facebook’s quarterly figures. The social network does not explain why the average turnover per user is increasing. Virtually all of Facebook’s revenue comes from advertising.
The average turnover per user has also increased in other parts of the world, but nowhere has the increase been as strong as in Europe. In the US and Canada it was an increase of 40.5 percent. In that region, Facebook earns much more from users with an average of $ 48.03. Globally, the average revenue per user in the past quarter was $9.27. That is an increase of 33.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
The number of daily active Facebook users in the past quarter was 1.88 billion. Last year there were 1.73 billion. In the United States, the number of users has remained the same, in Europe it grew from 305 to 309 million. The largest growth of active Facebook users is therefore in Asia and other parts of the world. The number of monthly active users is now 2.85 billion, which was 2.60 billion a year ago.
Facebook had quarterly revenue of $26.17 billion, of which $25.44 billion from advertising. Turnover was 46 percent higher than a year ago. Quarterly earnings came in at $9.5 billion, nearly doubling last year’s earnings in the same period.
In the coming quarters, Facebook expects to experience “changes to platforms and from regulatory authorities.” Specifically, the company mentions iOS 14.5, the update with which Apple added anti-tracking features. However, in a conversation with investors, Facebook says it is working on “improvements in its advertising techniques” to enable targeted advertising with “less access to data”.
