Wikipedia revamps website layout with sticky header and table of contents
Wikipedia has a new layout. The online encyclopedia has implemented Vector 2022, a restyling that has been in development for four years. The new layout resembles the 2010 skin, but looks more modern with a new table of contents and a sticky header.
The new layout is called Vector 2022. It is an updated version from the existing Vector, which Wikipedia has been using since 2010. According to the creators of the online encyclopedia, the old design did not meet all requirements, so many elements had to be overhauled. The new design should be “more accessible and comfortable for both new and old readers.” Also, the skin would do better for “advanced users on the desktop.”
From now on, the table of contents remains on the page by default and scrolls with the user. There will also be extra context for readers on discussion pages. It also makes it easier to switch languages while reading. The sidebar is also collapsible and there are several minor visual differences.
Another important change is that the search function is displayed more prominently. This also includes information about a search, such as additional images or descriptions. Finally, the header will now be sticky, so that it scrolls with the user.
