AMD Zen 5 based CPUs at 3nm will appear in 2024

CPUs based on the Zen 5 architecture will appear in 2024 and AMD will have them produced at 4nm and 3nm. AMD divides Zen 4 and Zen 5 into three variants; in addition to the regular versions, there will be generations with V cache and with compact cores.

AMD says it is rebuilding Zen 5 from the ground up, which means major changes to the architecture can be expected. Be on the roadmap Zen 5, Zen 5 V cache and Zen 5c for 2024 and the first chips will be produced at 4nm, followed by 3nm variants. That AMD mentions V cache separately shows that the company will continue to combine upcoming processors with sram on the die, as it already does with the Zen 3-based Ryzen 7 5800X3D with 3D V cache.

Zen 5c refers to smaller, more efficient cores. AMD also divides Zen 4 into Zen 4, Zen 4 V-cache and Zen 4c. In 2023, for example, the Zen 4-based Genoa-X with V cache for servers will appear, the successor to EPYC Milan-X that will be released at the end of this year. Genoa-X will get up to 96 Zen 4 cores and a minimum of 1GB L3 cache per socket.

The efficient Zen 4c cores support threading, AMD announces. For example, EPYC Bergamo processors appear for servers with 128 cores that can handle 256 threads. AMD will produce Zen 4 at 5nm and 4nm.
