Microsoft will release Xbox cloud gaming app for Samsung televisions at the end of June
Microsoft will release an Xbox app for Samsung smart TVs from 2022. This will allow Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to play Xbox games from the cloud directly on their television. The company also wants to make the app available for other TVs in the long term.
The Xbox app comes out on June 30 for Samsung smart TVs from 2022 and will then be available via the Samsung Gaming Hub. The app allows users to stream “more than 100” Xbox games from the cloud, without the need for a console. Users can connect a controller to their television via Bluetooth. The app will include support for Xbox controllers and Sony’s DualSense controller. The games are streamed at 1080p at 60fps.
It’s not clear when the app will become available for other TVs or older Samsung TVs. “We’re bringing the Xbox app to 2022 Samsung smart TVs first,” the company writes. The tech giant reports that it is ‘exploring’ other collaborations, but does not provide further details.
Microsoft said last year that it is working with television manufacturers to bring an Xbox app to TVs. At the same time, the company is working on a dongle that will allow users to stream Xbox games via the cloud on any screen. Next Sunday, the company will hold an Xbox & Bethesda Showcase, showcasing its upcoming Xbox games.
