KMess is an application for the desktop environment KDE to communicate smoothly from a Linux environment with acquaintances and friends via the MSN Messenger network. Support is available for, among other things, a full emoticon set, file transfer, Hotmail integration and various user profiles. All in all a very complete program to use the MSN Messenger network and to top it off with a clear interface† Since a few days the first preview of version 1.4 is available with the following changes:

- reduced the build and runtime dependencies
- updated configure checks for auto-away feature
- removed baloon popup at signon.
