‘Pixel 7 series will have the same displays as Pixel 6 series’

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will likely get pretty much the same displays as the Pixel 6 series. They have a 1080p and a 1440p OLED display from Samsung with refresh rates of 90Hz and 120Hz respectively.

This is reported by 9to5Google based on searches through the code of new display drivers for the phones. According to the site’s editors, the C10 driver intended for the display of the Pixel 7, codenamed Cheetah. The Pixel 7 Pro gets the P10 driver and the phone is codenamed Panther. The site has those code names previously discovered.

The C10 driver speaks of a display with a resolution of 1080 by 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The 7 Pro gets a display of 1440 by 3120 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The exact displays mentioned in the code are the S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3; identical to the Pixel 6 series. The display of the Pixel 7 would be one millimeter narrower and two millimeters shorter than that of the Pixel 6.

A more substantial difference would come in the form of a 1080p mode for the Pixel 7 Pro. Energy could be saved in this mode. The image quality is increased again with ‘DDIC Scaling’which works specifically on the S6E3HC3 display, according to the Google site.

Google has already announced the Pixel 7 series, but not much is known about it yet. The design is much the same as the 6 Series, with glass back and camera strip. Both Pixel 7 devices also receive a second generation Tensor soc from Google. According to the tech giant, this chip should improve certain features, such as speech recognition, photos and videos. The Pixel 7 series will be available this fall, at the same time as the Pixel Watch. There’s also a cheaper Pixel 6a on the way.
