Development of the open source e-mail app FairEmail will continue anyway
The development of the open source email app FairEmail continues anyway. FairEmail may be available again soon on the Play Store, but it’s not yet known when. The app was removed from the app store by Google last week for unclear reasons.
Initially, the developer did not want to continue with the development of FairEmail. He cited the many negative reviews and Google’s strict, unclear requirements as the reason for stopping development of the email app.
The developer is now coming back to that and writes on XDA’s forum that he “had a good talk with Google.” According to Google, the problem was the lack of information in its privacy policy, which failed to specify what personal data could potentially be sent to servers and when. The developer has adjusted the privacy policy so that it meets the requirements. He is also in the process of submitting a modified version of the FairEmail app to the Play Store and Github.
FairEmail is one alternate email client for users of Android devices. FairEmail does not collect data from users and is therefore popular among Android users who want to use Google on their phone as little as possible.
