Silverstone has updated its Kublai case after five years. The new Kublai KL04 is mainly intended to accommodate a large number of drives; a total of twenty drives can be installed in the mid-tower housing.

The Kublai KL04 is a black housing with a plastic front panel that has a brushed aluminum look. Four external 5.25″ drive bays are visible and the power buttons are a permanent part of the housing. At the top there is a niche in which the front panel connectors can be found. These consist of two audio connections and two USB 3.0 ports. The top is also equipped with a large grid for the supply of fresh air and the left side panel has an optional plexi window.

The inside of the KL04 has a large drive cage, which can accommodate nine 3.5″ drives. The drives are then closely packed together, but a 120mm fan blows air over the drives; a second one is optional. An additional drive cage is positioned in front of the power supply and accommodates six 2.5″ drives; one of the 3.5″ slots can also be used for a 2.5″ drive.

In addition to the two side fans, one of which is optional, a 120mm exhaust is placed in the back and a 120mm intake is built in at the top, possibly expandable with a second fan. Finally, a sixth fan can be installed at the bottom. So there are no fans in the front. The housing also has room for an ATX board with a maximum of eight expansion slots, the cooler may be 168mm high and video cards up to 43cm can be installed. The Kublai should cost about 100 euros.
