Hideo Kojima announces Death Stranding 2 for PlayStation 5
Death Stranding is officially getting a sequel. Gamemaker Hideo Kojima announced Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards. Léa Seydoux, Norman Reedus and Troy Baker return for their roles as Fragile, Sam and Higgs. DS2 will be released on the PlayStation 5.
Actress Léa Seydoux has a prominent role in the Death Stranding 2 teaser trailer. In addition to Seydoux, Reedus and Baker, Elle Fanning and Shioli Hutsuna are part of the cast. Death Stranding protagonist Norman Reedus, known from The Walking Dead, among others, confirmed earlier this year that a sequel was in development.
For the announcement during The Game Awards Kojima already shared one teaser image on Twitter with the words ‘who, where, how and now why’. The character’s face is not visible in the image, but it now appears to be Fragile.
Death Stranding 2 is a working title. The official title is not yet known. The game appears on the PS5, although the exact release date is still unknown. The title may come to PC at a later date, as was the case with the original Death Stranding.
The original Death Stranding was released on PS4 in 2019, and was later released on PS5 and PC. In the game, players, generally heavily loaded with packages, walk through a post-apocalyptic environment. Along the way, players will have to battle Beached Things, whose souls are stranded in the world of the living. Kojima previously developed the Metal Gear series, but eventually left Konami to continue with his own studio Kojima Productions.
