Crytek postpones Crysis Remastered after criticism of leaked trailer
Crytek is delaying Crysis Remastered for ‘several weeks’. The developer does so after negative reactions that appeared under a leaked trailer. With the extra time, Crytek wants to improve the game to better meet the expectations of fans.
Under the leaked trailer, users wrote comments such as “This looks like Crysis, but on the lowest settings”. The trailer shows images of the PC version, but the remaster is also coming to consoles including the Nintendo Switch.
“We’ve seen all the responses, the good and the bad, we’re listening,” says Crytek on Twitter. The company is going to postpone the game by a few weeks and wants to further polish the game during that time. Crytek states that that extra time will elevate the game back to a “PC and console-breaking” standard. By this it refers to the heavy system requirements of the original from 2007.
On Tuesday, a page with information about Crysis Remastered appeared in the Microsoft Store. There was a trailer for the game, which can still be seen on YouTube. A July 23 release date was also visible in the trailer. Crytek hadn’t officially announced the game yet, but said it will do so on July 1.
It remains to be seen to what extent Crytek can make significant changes in a few weeks. Developer Saber Interactive is the development studio that creates Crysis Remastered. The game contains the same content as the 2007 game, but is rigged in the latest version of the CryEngine.
