PlayStation 4 ‘game’ Dreams gets PSVR support from July 22
The game creation tool Dreams for the PlayStation 4 will receive an update in three weeks that will add support for the PlayStation VR headset. It is the first time that the ‘game’ will have VR support.
Abbie Heppe, the communications manager for developer Media Molecule, said in a post on the PlayStation blog that the VR expansion called Inside The Box will arrive on July 22 and will be available to download as a free update for Dreams.
This makes it possible to use the PlayStation VR headset in combination with Dreams. With the update, Dreams also gets a number of new tutorials and kits to help players get started in virtual reality, so they can learn to create things in VR. Owners of PlayStation Move controllers can immerse themselves even more in the sculpting process, according to Heppe.
According to Media Molecule, Dreams players without a PlayStation VR will also benefit from the upcoming update. For example, it is not necessary to be in VR to create for the PlayStation VR and there are also new gadgets available in the Create Mode and a number of accessibility features, including a comfort mode, vignette strength and static sky.
With the upcoming update, content creators will be able to specify whether their creations are playable in VR or not. When using user-created content, players are asked for a ‘comfort rating’ to show which games offer the best experience in VR.
