Subversion is a program for software and project developers, among others, with which management and version control over data and source code can be performed. The program can be seen as a direct competitor to the well-known cvs. The developers of Subversion have been busy lately and as a result have been able to deliver version 1.5.3. The corresponding list of customizations looks like this:

User-visible changes:

  • Allow switch to continue after deleting locally modified dirs
  • Update bash_completion to be compatible with 1.5
  • Improve ‘svn merge’ execution time by 30% on Windows
  • Reuse network sessions during ‘svn merge’, improving performance

  • fixed: merging files with spaces in name
  • fixed: incorrect relative externals expansion
  • fixed: ‘svn mv’ hangs and consumes infinite memory

Developer-visible changes:

  • Allow the tests to run as non-administrator on Windows Vista
  • Allow out-of-tree build of bindings on BSD
  • Translate messages into svn_fs_util.h
