Pandemic working on Lord of the Rings: Conquest

That the American Pandemic Studios is working on a new Lord of the Rings game had already been leaked. Now it is clear that with Lord of the Rings: Conquest it builds on Star Wars Battlefront.

Lord of the Rings: Conquest should be ready in the fall of 2008 and then release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. pandemic want give the game the same gameplay as Star Wars Battlefront. That is, there will again be major battles in the game, in which up to 150 fighters participate. In Conquest, the player can recreate every battle from the three films by Peter Jackson, along with a number of new ones. For example, Helm’s Deep, Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith and the Black Gates appear in the game, supplemented by the Mines of Moria and Weathertop. There is even a level in the game where the player can play the bad guy and burn down the entire Shire. In addition, the player can control almost any creature from the film and enter the battlefield with it. From Cave Trolls and Oliphaunts to the Balrog and even Sauron, they’re all controllable. Fighting is possible with sword, bow and magic.

The game will also feature multiplay, where eight players can compete against each other and up to four players can battle through the story in co-op. The multiplay mode offers the option of playing the game online or in split screen. The game also gets two complete single-play campaigns, in which one of the campaigns tells what would have happened if Sauron had gotten the ring.
