Sumatra PDF is an open source lightweight program for opening PDF documents. Installed, the program takes up 1.2MB and is therefore smaller than Foxit Reader. When a PDF document is printed, it is first converted internally to a bitmap image. This usually results in a large spooled file, which can be quite slow on low-memory printers. Last Friday version 1.0.1 of Sumatra PDF was released, but because this is the first time that this program is used in the Meuktracker, we show all the changes that have been made this year:

Changes in version 1.0.1:

  • Many memory leaks fixed (Simon Bunzli)
  • Potential crash due to stack corruption (pointed out by Christophe Devine)
  • Making Sumatra default PDF reader no longer asks for admin priviledges on Vista/Windows 7
  • Translation updates

Changes in version 1.0:

  • Lots of small bug fixes and improvements

Changes in version 0.9.4:

  • Improved PDF compatibility (more types of documents can be rendered)
  • Added settings dialog (contributed by Simon Bünzli)
  • Unicode handling improvements
  • Changed default view from single page to continuous
  • SyncTex improvements (contributed by William Blum)
  • Add option to not remember opened files
  • A new icon for documents association (contributed by George Georgiou)
  • Lots of bug fixes and UI polish
