Media Player Classic is a small no-nonsense media player that looks like Windows Media Player 6.4 and is still a widely used program. However, Gabest, the original creator of this program, discontinued development a while ago. Media Player Classic HomeCinema was created based on the open source code. Like the original MPC, this media player, in combination with the ffdshow filter, can display just about anything it throws at it. However, it also has some extras which are especially interesting for use on an HTPC. For example, there are options for anti tearing, DirectX video acceleration and synchronization for subtitles.
