Ubuntu Linux is a popular Linux distribution, but since the introduction of the Ubuntu-developed Unity user interface, there has also been a growing group of disgruntled users. Mint Linux is an Ubuntu-based distribution that is available with two different desktop environments. The first uses MATE, which is based on the deprecated Gnome 2 code, and is intended for older hardware. The other uses Cinnamon, which is based on Gnome 3, but feels like the ‘classic’ Gnome 2 environment.
