Rumor: Microsoft is testing xCloud servers for Xbox Series X and PC games
Microsoft would like to upgrade the hardware for its xCloud game streaming service to Xbox Series X components, to be able to offer it next year. The company would also test with servers for streaming PC games.
Microsoft is said to be already testing updated xCloud servers with Xbox Series X hardware and experiments are underway with servers for PC games via the xCloud service. That is what The Verge claims based on its sources. Currently, xCloud runs on servers with Xbox One S hardware, but next year the service should get more powerful hardware to be able to deliver Xbox Series X games streaming.
The Verge says it is likely that the tests with blade servers with hardware for PC gaming will lead to Xbox Game Pass for PC games being offered via xCloud. Those games would then be streaming on Windows PCs, mobile devices and possibly Xbox consoles. Conversely, Microsoft is testing Xbox games that can be played on Windows via xCloud.
