Download FileZilla 3.14.1
FileZilla has released version 3.14.1 of its eponymous open source FTP client. FileZilla is small, simple and yet complete. The program is popular due to its low system resource load. However, a common complaint is that passwords are stored unencrypted on the computer. FileZilla is available for Windows, Linux, and OS X, and can be downloaded from this page be downloaded in different versions.
SourceForge, which hosts the downloads, has been in the news lately because it offers some downloads through its own download manager that contains adware. If the download is less than 1MB in size and has an icon with the letters ‘SF’, you’ve got the wrong one. If the download is about 6MB and there is a FileZilla icon, then you’re good. The changelog for this release looks like this:
New features:
- For third-party builds, add configure flag to allow using system ciphers for FTP over TLS. Display a warning if an insecure cipher is negotiated as result of using system ciphers.
Bug fixes and minor changes:
- Fixed loading of the directory comparison flag for bookmakrs in the Site Manager
- Changing the interface layout and icon theme no longer results in an inconsistent UI state
- Some SFTP servers send additional information on errors. This information is now shown in the message log
- If the local file cannot be opened on SFTP transfers FileZilla no longer automatically retries
- Updated SFTP components from PuTTY
