Download Firmware Sony PlayStation 4 3.0

Sony recently released new firmware for the PlayStation 4 and has now updated its website as well. The new firmware carries version number 3.0 and is 239MB in size. Downloading is preferably done from the menu of the game console itself, but can also be done via the Sony website. In version 3.0, the option has been added to stream via YouTube Gaming. ‘Communities’ have also been added, where people with common interests can hang out, and you can share the gameplay with others. The complete changelog of this release can be found below.

The main features in version 3.0 of the system software

  • ‘Events’ has been added. If you select ‘Events’ on the function screen, you can search for events and join events held for specific games and events for official gameplay broadcasts.
  • ‘Communities’ has been added. Communities are places where you can play games, talk about common interests, or set up a party with players who share the same interests and preferences as you. If you select “Friends” > “Communities” on the features screen, you can create a new community, search for an existing community, or join a community.
  • You can now easily search for games or parties that other players are joining. To do this, select ‘Now playing’ under ‘What’s new?’, ‘Friends’, ‘Messages’ or ‘Communities’. You can view an overview of the games and parties that friends and members are currently participating in. For example, you can join a game session or watch another player’s live broadcast.
  • It is now possible to send a request to see someone’s gameplay. The player who receives the request can share the gameplay by broadcasting it or by selecting ‘Share Play’. To send a request, first select “Now playing” under “What’s new?”, “Friends”, “Messages” or “Communities” and then “Requests to watch”.
  • The following features have been added to ‘Messages’. The screen layout has also been improved.
    • People specified as recipients can be placed in groups. You can select names and images for such groups.
    • You can view games or parties that other members are currently participating in.
    • You can start a party with other members.
    • You can send stickers.
    • You can add groups you interact with frequently to the Favorite groups list. You can view your Favorite groups under ‘Friends’.
  • It is now possible to broadcast your gameplay on YouTube™.
  • It is now possible to upload video clips to Twitter (maximum 10 seconds).

Parts

  • You can now view a list of video clips and screenshots that other people are sharing for ‘Live from PlayStation’. The screen layout has also been improved.
  • You can now comment on your activities.
  • You can now set the length of a video clip you want to save to 30 seconds.

Settings

  • ‘Auto scrolling speed’ has been added to ‘Settings’ > ‘Accessibility’. Accessibility settings are also now available for a wider range of system functions.
  • You can now view the age level and rating icon when you adjust settings in Settings > Parental Controls > Restrict Use of PS4 Features > Games.*
  • ‘Web filter’ has been added to ‘Settings’ > ‘Parental Controls’ > ‘Restrict use of PS4 features’. It is now possible to use a web filtering service that automatically prevents dangerous or harmful sites from being displayed.**
  • You can now select whether you want a pop-up notification for the following items under ‘Settings’ > ‘Notifications’:
    • Community
    • Requests to watch gameplay
    • Events
    • Current number

Others

  • ‘PlayStation Plus’ has been added to the function screen. Now you can easily see the latest information about special offers or promotions and buy subscriptions.
  • You can now use PlayStation App*** to sign in to PlayStation Network when you sign in to a PS4 system as a guest. If you are using a device with PlayStation App installed, you can log in without your login ID and password being visible to others by scanning the code displayed on the PS4 system.
  • It is now possible to create a sub account by selecting ‘New User’ when logging in to the PS4 system.
