No Man’s Sky gets crossplay support and becomes part of Game Pass
No Man’s Sky will receive crossplay support starting Thursday. That means players can explore the world together, regardless of which platform they play the space survival game on. The game will also be part of Microsoft’s Game Pass.
The addition of crossplay allows players on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to play No Man’s Sky with each other; so is the version on GOG and the vr version of the game. No Man’s Sky will also be available in the Microsoft Store from Thursday and will also be part of the Game Pass for Xbox One and Windows 10, making the game playable for free for subscribers of this game subscription from Microsoft.
According to Hello Games, a lot of work has gone into the underlying technology and systems to make this possible. For example, the backend of the network has been replaced. Players who play on multiple platforms can form a group beforehand, as well as in-game. Icons show which platform players are on in the game. The developer claims to have been working on this for the past six months.
The update that adds crossplay also includes a number of other innovations and improvements, such as a new screen to view and manage in-game friends, display the player’s body in the VR version, auto-unsubscribe and/or translate of voice chat and an easy option to invite a player you talk to in the game to a group.
