Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip successor with 120Hz screen will be released next year
Samsung is reportedly releasing a new Galaxy Z Flip folding phone next year. The manufacturer would do this ‘after the first quarter of 2021’. The device would get a 120Hz screen and be cheaper than the current Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
At the beginning of this year, Samsung introduced both the Galaxy S20 smartphones and the first Galaxy Z Flip. In January 2021, the company would release the Galaxy S21 series, but the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip successor will not be released at the same time as these smartphones, The Elec reports based on its own sources. Instead, Samsung would use the smartphones ‘after the first quarter of 2021’ to prevent the S21 series and the new Z Flip from getting in each other’s way. The current Galaxy Z Flip smartphone was introduced at the same time as the S20 devices.
The Elec also reports that Samsung will release ‘three different foldables’ next year, which is in line with previous rumors. This would include the new Galaxy Z Flip and a Galaxy Z Fold 3. The latter will probably be released in June. A Fan Edition of the Fold is also expected.
Furthermore, leaker IceUniverse reports on Weibo that the ‘Galaxy Z Flip 3’ will get a 120Hz screen. The Z Fold 2 released in September also has a 120Hz display. IceUniverse also reports that the upcoming foldable will be cheaper than the current Galaxy Z Flip 5G. That phone had a suggested retail price of about $ 1,450 excluding VAT at release, but is currently in the Pricewatch for $ 849.
