Android 13 beta code may show camera details foldable Google Pixel device
The code of the first Android 13 QPR1 beta found camera details about upcoming products from Google. The devices are codenamed ‘Felix’ and ‘Lynx’. This may include a foldable Pixel device.
Developer Kuba Wojciechowski reports on Twitter found details about devices codenamed “Felix” and “Lynx” in the code of the new beta software. Previously, Felix was thought to be the Pixel 7a. However, Wojciechowski now thinks the Felix is actually a foldable.
The code refers in fact to a folded and unfolded state and details can be found about the presence of cameras on the inside and outside of the device, as is usually the case with a foldable smartphone.
There are also references to the cameras. The IMX787 main sensor and the IMX386 ultra-wide angle sensor from Sony would be present. This is a 64-megapixel sensor and a 12-megapixel sensor respectively. The telephoto lens is a 10.8-megapixel camera that may use Samsung’s S5K3J1 sensor. The front or the inside may feature an 8-megapixel camera with IMX355 sensor from Sony.
In addition, there is a reference in the code of the Android 13 QPR1 beta to the ‘Lynx’ device. According to Wojciechowski, it could be a Pixel phone that has better specifications than the Pixel 7 Pro. There are also references to a dual camera setup with two unannounced IMX712 sensors from Sony. This would be 13-megapixel cameras.
Furthermore, references have been found in the code to a tablet referred to as ‘T6Pro’ or ‘tangopro’. This could be a ‘high-end’ version of the expected Pixel tablet, but no further information is known about it.
A foldable Pixel smartphone is expected to initially appear this year, according to sources, but its release may have been delayed. Analyst Ross Young said recently that production of the displays for a Google foldable would start in four months. In October, Google will announce the new Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch 6.
