Bang & Olufsen introduces soundbar with TV stand for 6490 euros
Audio company Bang & Olufsen will show a new Beosound Theater soundbar during IFA 2022. It can also function as a TV standard and supports Dolby Atmos. The soundbar will cost 6490 euros upon release.
The Beosound Theater Soundbar consists of twelve speaker drivers, including two 6.5″ woofers. The Beosound Theater also has a center channel with a 5.25″ speaker and a 1″ tweeter for higher tones. The rest of the system consists of two 3″ speakers, four 2.5″ drivers and two 1″ tweeters. B&O claims that the soundbar can produce a sound pressure level of 112dBa.
The Beosound Theater can also function as a floor standing TV stand. The manufacturer supplies a standard for the soundbar, on which a television can also be attached. The soundbar has aluminum ‘wings’ that can be extended to the width of the attached television. The bracket that has cable ducts is motorized, so that the television can be turned. Bang & Olufsen also supplies wall mounting hardware. The soundbar’s design is inspired by sailboats, the manufacturer says.
The soundbar can be further combined with up to sixteen other Bang & Olufsen speakers via eight physical Powerlink outputs and eight wireless Powerlink connections. The soundbar supports Dolby Atmos, but B&O does not mention support for DTS:X. The soundbar also gets three HDMI 2.1 inputs and an HDMI 2.1 eARC connection. The soundbar also gets a USB-C connection for audio and support for Apple AirPlay 2, bluetooth, a built-in Chromecast and Spotify Connect.
Bang & Olufsen supplies the soundbar in two different colors. A black variant with a fabric cover costs 6490 euros. There will also be a wooden variant, which will cost 7490 euros. The soundbar will be available in stores on October 3.
