LinuxMCE is capable of converting an Ubuntu installation into a full media center OS. The program contains a large number of tools to record and play back programs, as well as an extensive user interface to view various media on the screen. The 1.0 release is here downloadable from some mirror servers. The media center is described by its creators as follows:
