Download Internet Download Manager 5.0 beta
The program Internet Download Manager, or IDM for short, comes from the company Tonec. With this program, downloads can be brought in faster, aborted downloads can be resumed and there is the possibility to start them at a predetermined time. The acceleration is achieved, among other things, by something called ‘dynamic file segmentation’, cleverly dividing the download into small pieces. The program can handle all major web browsers and most so-called wrappers, is not averse to proxy servers, ftp and http protocols, firewalls, redirects, cookies and, for example, folders that require authorization. Version 5.0 beta has just been released and includes a site grabber as a new feature. This makes it possible, for example, to retrieve all images or sound files from a website. The full changelog for this release is as follows:
What’s new in this version?
- Added the site grabber feature. This feature not only lets you download required files that are specified with filters, for example all pictures from a web site, or all audio files from a web site, but it also lets you download subsets of web sites, or complete web sites for mirroring or off-line browsing.
- Improved visual appearance and user interface. The toolbar looks better for different XP Visual styles.
- Redesigned and enhanced IDM download engine.
- Version 5.0 includes all latest bug fixes.
