AMD unveils two mobile Ryzen 7000 CPUs. Desktop CPUs coming in late 2022

AMD will make its new desktop processors codenamed Raphael available at the end of this year. Starting in 2023, there will also be two new Ryzen 7000 mobile CPUs: the Dragon Range and Phoenix CPUs. In all cases, these are processors with Zen 4 cores.

The Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs codenamed Raphael will probably be released in the last quarter of this year, according to a slide from an AMD presentation. The company mentions that it concerns CPUs in the enthusiast desktop category and designs above 65W. The company hasn’t given an exact release date yet.

AMD will also release two Ryzen 7000 CPUs in 2023 that are intended for laptops. These are processors codenamed Dragon Range and Phoenix. Dragon Range CPUs are intended for ‘extreme gaming laptops’, while the Phoenix CPUs will be used for the thin & light category. No exact release dates have been announced for these new products either.

These three CPUs all contain Zen 4 cores, which also means the arrival of a new socket. AMD confirms support for DDR5 memory and PCI Express 5.0. The Zen 4 cores will be produced on TSMC’s 5nm process, which has so far been used almost exclusively for Apple’s socs.
