Amazon details game modes of its multiplayer shooter Crucible
Amazon Game Studios has uploaded footage of Crucible, its upcoming team-based pvp action shooter, due out May 20. The videos set out three game modes: Heart of the Hives, Alpha Hunters, and Harvester Command.
Harvester Command pits two teams of eight against each other. They must collect essence, a valuable commodity in the game. The more harvesters a team has, the faster the team’s score increases. That requires attacking, but also defending. The teams also get points for kills.
Alpha Hunters is a battle royale mode where teams of two compete against each other. There’s no respawning and players would do well to achieve objectives and hunt computer-controlled game to level up. A striking innovation is that two players from different teams who have lost their buddy can form an alliance. However, if that newly formed team makes it to the top three teams, the alliance will be automatically dissolved.
The third mode is Heart of the Hives. In it, teams of four compete against each other in a race to collect three hive hearts. To do that, they have to beat the computerized hives. There is also the possibility to directly attack the competing team.
Less than a week ago, a handful of videos were also put online in which various characters, officially called hunters, are introduced. A month ago it was announced that Crucible will be released in May. The game’s Steam Store page has since confirmed that and is citing a date of May 20. It can also be read that Relentless Studios, a studio within Amazon Game Studios, is responsible for the game. A new Crucible website has also been put online. Crucible is the first game released by the games division of internet giant Amazon. The game is currently only available for Windows.
