Patch still enables Physx with ATI/Nvidia combination

Since the arrival of the GeForce 186 drivers, it is not possible to use an ATI card as a video card, while an Nvidia card handles Physx. Nvidia disabled this on purpose, but a new patch makes it possible again.

Some time ago, a change in Nvidia’s drivers meant that an Nvidia card could no longer be used if an ATI card was also present in the system. For users of Windows 7, which allows installation of multiple drivers at the same time, that meant the end of using an ATI card in combination with an Nvidia card. Nvidia disabled the feature, citing compatibility issues and preferring not to validate competitor products.

However, a member of the NGOHQ forum was not satisfied with this, and wrote a patch, with which it is still possible to use an ATI video card for rendering work, while an Nvidia card takes care of the physical calculations using Nvidia Physx. The patch is usable with the latest Nvidia drivers and some NGOHQ forum members have already reported its successful operation.
