Team Group to Release 32GB DDR5-4800 Memory Kit at the End of June for $400
Team Group will release its first 32GB kit with DDR5-4800 memory in July. They are the first DDR5 modules to be made available to consumers. There are currently no consumer CPU platforms that support these memory modules.
The memory kit from Team Group gets a suggested retail price of $400. The memory modules achieve a speed of 4800 megatransfers per second, which corresponds to Jedec’s DDR5 memory standard. The official maximum speed of the DDR4 specification is 3200MT/s, although manufacturers can go over this. The manufacturer also reports that the memory modules will receive integrated ECC support. On-die ecc is part of Jedec’s DDR5 specification.
Team Group’s DDR5-4800 kit comes with 1.1V voltage, CL40-40-40-77 subtimings and a three-year warranty. There are currently no CPU platforms with DDR5 support available for consumers. Team Group reports in a press release that the modules will be supported on upcoming 600 series chipsets from Intel. Those chipsets will be introduced with Intel’s Alder Lake processors, which are planned for the second half of this year.
The modules have a black printed circuit board but do not have a heat spreader. Team Group states that the first modules will be available at the end of June on various European e-commerce platforms. The company does not yet mention European suggested retail prices, but the memory kit will cost $400 in the United States. Converted and including VAT, this amounts to approximately 408 euros, based on current exchange rates.
