AdDuplex: percentage of Windows 11 users barely growing
The percentage of users with Windows 11 has barely increased in the past month, according to AdDuplex. The service keeps track of the number of users of both Windows 10 and Windows 11. There are still more than four times as many Windows 10 users.
The percentage of Windows 11 users in the numbers of AdDuplex comes in at 19.4, compared to 19.3 percent last month. In the first months after the release of Windows 11 last fall, that percentage rose sharply, but now that hardly happens anymore.
The service keeps track of which Windows version people are using in thousands of Windows apps. Those applications only run on Windows 10 and 11, so the numbers are only about that. There are still more than four times as many Windows 10 users as Windows 11.
The service does not provide an explanation for the stagnating figures. Presumably some of the users will not be able to upgrade due to the relatively strict system requirements of Windows 11. There will also be some that will reject the upgrade. Microsoft has started to remind users with compatible PCs that there is an upgrade.
The figures are slightly higher than those in other market reports. Game streaming service Steam reported in February that 78 percent of Steam users run Windows 10 and 16 percent run Windows 11. The remaining Windows machines run older versions. Microsoft itself does not disclose figures about how many people have upgraded to Windows 11.
