March Update Pixel 6 makes vibrations too weak for users to notice
Since the March Update of the Google Pixel 6, users have been complaining that vibrations on the phone are weaker than desired. As a result, they would even miss important calls and notifications.
The update, which came out last week, only seems to have downgraded vibrations for notifications and calls; vibrations occurring for other reasons would be undiminished in their intensity. Missing notifications and calls would happen even when the intensity setting is set to maximum. In a reddit topic is a smaller group of users who find that the lower intensity is not annoying.
According to users on Reddit, the issue had already been brought to their attention at the time of the beta phase of this update, but Google doesn’t seem to have done anything about it. Interestingly, Google does acknowledge the problem: according to Droid Life At some point after publication, Google gave the changelog of the March Update added that the problem with the haptics has been fixed. However, based on comments on Reddit, that doesn’t seem to be true.
It is not the first time that an update introduces problems to the device. In December, it appeared that an update had significantly deteriorated the reception of mobile networks. The same update also created issues with the Hold for Me and Call Screening features; they were therefore disabled by Google. Further back, there was a problem with the Assistant making cold calls.
