Google may officially announce its Pixel 6a smartphone in May. That’s what leaker Jon Prosser claims. The Pixel 6a is set to hit stores on July 28. In October, Google would officially announce a Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel Watch.

Jon Prosser writes on Twitter that Google will announce its Pixel 6a at Google I/O 2022. This year’s event will take place on May 11 and 12. Prosser is a well-known leaker who previously published correct information about previous Pixel devices early.

According to Prosser, Google will also show a teaser of its Pixel Watch wearable during its I/O presentation, which has been rumored for some time. However, that smartwatch would only be announced ‘completely’ at a later date. The leaker states that the company will do so in October, along with a Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphone. Previously, Prosser expected the Pixel Watch to be released in May. At the time, however, the leaker already made a fuss, saying that Google is “known for” delaying internal release dates.

There have also been rumors about the Google Pixel 6a for some time. OnLeaks previously shared renders of the phone, on which it shows great similarities with the Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. The phone would get a Tensor soc, just like the current Pixel 6 devices. However, the 6a would have an older primary camera sensor, which was already used in the Pixel 3. Google itself seemed to confirm the arrival of the Pixel 6a earlier in a coloring book.
