Rumor: FromSoftware is working on a Souls-like game coming exclusively to PS5

FromSoftware, the developer of the Dark Souls games, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, is working on a Souls-like game that will be released exclusively for the PS5. At least that’s what Nick Baker says. He has often reported correctly about game releases at an early stage.

Nick Baker, a game journalist better known as Shpeshal Nick, reports on his Twitter account that he wanted to release this rumor next week. With that he responds to a Twitter post from another gamer who goes public with this information and refers to Baker as the source. According to that account, it is a Souls-like game and is not the successor to the original Bloodborne. This account speaks of a release window in 2022 or 2023 for the yet unknown Souls game.

Baker underlined that he’s been told FromSoftware is making a PS5 exclusive title, though he doesn’t say the source of that information. In March of this year he already reported on Twitter that he was pretty sure FromSoftware isn’t making an Xbox exclusive. He lets still somewhat in the middle whether it is a title that will only be released for the PS5, or a PlayStation title that will not be released for the Xbox, but for example on another platform such as the PC.

Baker is a co-founder of the Xbox Era podcast and has previously shared (largely) accurate information. That’s how he came up with in June the message Ghosts of Ikishima will be released as an expansion later this year. That will happen on August 20, as part of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and as an expansion to the base game. Wednesday reports He also said that the futuristic racing game Wipeout will make a return as a PS5 and PSVR 2 title, although the project is still in its early stages.
