Developer Codemasters has temporarily removed the 3D Audio feature for headphones from the PS5 version of F1 2021. The studio indicates that this is due to audio problems, but does not provide details. It is unknown when the feature will return.

“3D Audio for Headphones is temporarily disabled on PS5,” the studio writes the patch notes of update 1.06 on the website of publisher and parent company EA. “This feature will be re-enabled once related audio issues are resolved.” It is not known exactly what problems the function had to deal with. Update 1.06 further resolves several bugs, among other fixes and adjustments.

It is the second time that Codemasters had to disable a feature from F1 2021 in the PS5 version. Last month, the studio temporarily disabled ray tracing for that release of the game, citing that it was necessary due to performance issues. The feature was reintroduced a week later, in update 1.05.

F1 2021 released on July 16 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. In addition to annual updates to cars and drivers, the game includes a new Braking Point story mode and a co-op career mode. Players can also start a career at any time based on the current standings in the real F1 championship.
