VR game Pistol Whip coming to PlayStation VR this summer
The rhythmic shooter Pistol Whip comes to Sony’s PlayStation VR platform. The virtual reality game was released on Steam last year. The console version will be released in the summer; an exact release date has not yet been announced.
Pistol whip is a rhythmic shooter inspired by action films such as John Wick and Equilibrium, according to the makers. VR games such as Beat Saber and Superhot have also served as a source of inspiration. Players have to shoot enemies and match their shots to the beat to get a high score.
According to the developers, the game is easy to play, but difficult to master completely. The game can be played with a single PlayStation Move controller to aim and shoot. For example, players can support the hand containing the ‘weapon’ with their other hand, just like a ‘real badass from action movies’.
The game takes place in dynamic levels with environments inspired by scenes from action movies. Each scene has three difficulty settings and the game has modifiers to customize the gameplay, including a dual wield akimbo mode.
Sony has not yet revealed the price of the PSVR version of Pistol Whip. The game currently costs 21 euros on Steam. The shooting game is also available for the Oculus Quest and is available in the Oculus store for 23 euros.
